Grayish orbs scanned the vast breadth of land that was the Meadow of Ice. They were probing for some indication of life in the near wasteland. The snow was only a few inches deep and the beholder of the wilderness was not hindered by it as her mitts easily reached through to the frozen earth below. The ebony hued feline’s search was thus far in vain for there were no hints of the quarry she was so avidly searching for. Void, as that was her forename, could feel the need for sustenance clawing at her stomach. She refused to surrender her pursuits; she and the tribe needed feeding. Of course prey was still easier than usual to find for this snowy season, but that didn’t mean it could just jump into your paws with a simple sniff around. Void maintained her quick yet silent pace across the vastness of the tundra, scenting the air around every bush and bramble that she came to. However, it was to no avail, all that she came upon was the frozen remains of an owl pellet near a lonely and crippled tree. Void sighed, she had anticipated a more fruitful and exciting day than this, but alas this appeared to be how it would go. She turned to leave; she was thoroughly cold by this point and just wanted to curl up in her den back at the cave. Suddenly she heard it, a scurry of tiny hands against the powdery snow. A shrub that she had missed rustled in the lower boughs as she looked for the source of the sound. She approached quietly, not wanting to alert her quarry of her approach. She could see its form under the bush and waited until it was near the edge. She pounced, a swift bite to the neck and the shrew was dead.

A snowy figure appeared almost out of no where, her white coat some-what
blending her into the Meadow of Ice. She was slowly padding around the territory
looking for prey or someone to talk to. 'It seems I'll never find decent prey!' She
sighed and stopped for a moment. 'No, don't think like that. The Tribe will be fine.'
Still, doubt lingered in the mind of the she-cat as she continued to walk forward.
Fallen Trees of the Mountain sighed deeply, and in doing that she caught the
scent of another cat. "Void?" she mrrowed suddenly as she looked up. She saw
the black prey hunter and smiled as she padded over to join her. A little bit of
relief surged through her paws as she saw the vole. "Nice catch," she purred.
Fallen glanced uncertainly at Void and sat down. "I haven't caught even the scent
of prey today.." she murmured.

Void waved her tail in greeting to the approaching feline. The dark she-cat set the prey onto the icy snow below her so that she could more easily talk. "Thanks." Void said with a smile, and then the expression faded at the white cat's words. "Yeah, I've been having the same trouble, this is the first thing that I've caught all day, and it was just luck more than anything that I found it." Void looked to the creature by her paws and noticed how thin it was, not much of a meal for any cat. "Maybe teamwork will help us find more prey, want to hunt with me for a while?" Void asked after a moment. She began scraping away the snow and ice infront of her and then pushed the shew into the small hole, keeping it safe from scavengers that would gladly steal the tiny bit of food that it would give the tribe. At the thought she had an idea, she could leave teh shew out in the open and hide in the bush where it had been, then if any sort of predator did come for it she could lunge out of hiding and kill it. She wasn't sure if that was a good idea though, she hadn't seen any sorts of birds today and didn't want a wolf or fox coming near her, she decided it might be best to hunt the more traditional way after all.

Fallen nodded as Void spoke, and her ears perked up when she mentioned
hunting together. "Really? I think what would be great!" she smiled. She looked
at the shrew once more and then across the Meadow of Ice. 'Hard times ahead..
Even the prey is starving..' The white she-cat lifted her nose to the air and drank in
any scent she could, only to come up empty. "Maybe my nose isn't working," she
muttered crossly to herself. She narrowed her light blue eyes and scanned the
sky; no birds either. "Void.. nevermind." Fallen was a bit of a worrier, and she
didn't want to bother anyone with her not-so-positive thoughts. Once agian the
prey hunter opened her mouth and tried to locate prey. 'Success!' There was
something nearby, maybe a mouse or another shrew. She turned to Void
excitedly, seeing if she had found anything. She would prefer a bird of a plump
mouse, but anything would do at this point.

Void was glad to see that the ivory hued she-cat was willing to hunt with her. She too scented the air, looking for anything besides the still fresh scent of her prey. She was unable to scent anything and hoped that the wind would change so that new scents would flow towards her. At Fallen's words about her nose not working she smiled in a grimacing sort of way, wishing that that was all that their problems were. A slight breeze wafted arcross her senses from another direction, maybe carrying the scent of prey but it was hard to be sure. Then her ears turned again to her friend, but before she had said more than Void's name she seemed to have decided against whatever she was going to say. Void, being rather untalkative by nature didn't pursue it. The wind came again, this time a bit stronger, and she could tell that there was deffinately something there. She looked over to Fallen and from the light cat's expression she had smelled it too. Glad to be able to close her mouth against the cold now that she had scented something Void flicked her tail in the direction of the mouthwatering scent. She was pretty sure that it was a ptarmigan, and hoped that it was. After all the birds were pretty large and would be a good catch for the tribe.

With another slight smile Fallen crouched, her belly just barely touching the icy
floor. Her paw pads felt almost frozen but she was used to it and ignored it as she
crept forward. In her excitement she really didn't make the scent distinct, she just
knew there was prey. 'Finally!' The snowy she-cat swayed her tail just a little before
leaping and sinking her claws into the bird. It caught her rather off guard as she
was expecting a small mouse or even shrew. She panicked a little as the
ptarmigan quickly tried to take off. She cried out a little and attempted to bring
down the prey.

Void, seeing her friend's trouble, rushed forward too. She jumped on top of the feathered animal, biting it at the base of the neck. Immediately the avian creature went limp under her paws and she backed up with a smile. "Good teamwork." Void meowed happily, glad that they had caught something so large. She knew the tribe would still need more prey but this would deffinately be helpful. She shook her pelt, some snow had landed on it, stirred up in the wind from the fowl's wings. Void looked at the ptarmigan, her ebony pelt still lightly dusted with snowflakes. "Do you want to go back to the cave now or should we hunt some more?" Void asked her companion. The raven-hued feline was starting to get pretty cold; she had been out looking for prey all morning.

Fallen panted slightly, not because she was tired but because she had panicked a
bit and gotten her heart racing. She looked embarrassingly at Void and smiled.
"Yea, thanks." She pondered for a moment and shuffled her paws, noticing they
felt like blocks of ice on the bottom of her feet. She shook her coat and looked at
the bird they had caught. 'Yes! Prey..' Her mouth watered a little but the snowy
she-cat knew it was for the Tribe. Finally she lifted her sky-blue gaze to the dark
prey hunter. "Um.. Let's not test our luck and head back.. Unless you want to
stay," she added quickly.

"I think if I stay out any longer my blood's going to freeze." Void said, only half joking. It had gotten a bit darker so there was probably going to be some snow soon too and she would much rather be back in the warmth of the cave. She walked back to where the shrew she had caught earlier was burried under the snow and got it. She noticed how cold it was, freezing her teeth a bit. Returning oward the white she-cat Void set the animal down. "Can you carry that on your own?" Void asked, not trying to be rude, just knowing that the bird was fairly heavy and kind of awkward to hold on to. She picked up the shrew again as she waited for a response.

Fallen nodded and tugged on the bird a bit. "Yea I agree, the dark isn't going to
make it any warmer that's for sure. Uh.. I'm not sure, it's kinda big." Instead of
sounding cross the she-cat was actually quite happy with their catch. She sighed
again and looked at Void a little expectantly. "If it's not too much trouble.." She
glanced at the shrew in her jaws and hoped she could easily pick up what she was
saying. Fallen just hated asking for help; whenever she needs it she just kind of
goes around it being a direct question. The light cat shivered for a moment
and moved her paws.

Void walked closer and shifted the shrew so that all she had to hold it by was the foot. She now had enough room in her mouth to help grab the ptarmigan. "Okay, let's go." Void meowed, starting to lift up on the bird. She cold feel that it was already a bit colder and quickly pushed the thought away. Maybe she wouldn't notice it if she didn't think about it. Unfortunatley that wasn't the case but the black she-cat said nothing about it. Partly because her mouth was full and partly because there wasn't anything to be done about it.
